We are thinking about adding an in-ground, vinyl pool. We just bought our house last year and with the housing market being what it is, I doubt that we have any equity – even considering the down payment that we made. So a home equity loan is out. We are estimating the whole cost for the pool will be around k, and we would like to get a 10 year loan with no more than 20% down. We have excellent credit and a score of around 750, and have plenty of income to make the payments. So, is it common practice to get a loan for a pool? And if so, what type of loans are used?
BTW- I am already aware that we will not see a return in our housing value. We live in Tennessee, and want to do this as a luxury for our family. Thanks!

Sunday, January 17th, 2010i’m having my condo appraised for a home equity loan and there is a realtor (not affiliated with the bank) that said she will be taking pictures of the inside of my condo. it seems a strange that she can’t just estimate the value of the home by looking at it… and i’m a little suspect about her taking pictures of my stuff.(i don’t want her to have pictures of what is in my home) is it absolutely necessary for a home appraisal??

We would like to take some money out to do home improvements and to help pay for our son’s tuition. We would like to take out about 30 to 40 thousand dollars. Do we have enough equity in our house to do this? Also, can we get a home equity loan that only requires us to pay interest on the loan while we are living in the house and pay the loan back when we sell the house. We are planning on selling the house in 5 to 7 years. Finally, can anyone suggest a good lender?

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009I have a HELOC at 8.5% fixed and was thinking of swtching this to a 4% variable. I wanted to use the extra money I save and pay the principal down, but was concerned about the prime rate going up. Wells Fargo says I can switch back and forth, but when I switch back to a fixed, the rates may be better or worse for a fixed. Is this worth trying? I have to add .75% on to whatever the prime is to get my rate.

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009I am trying to get a home equity loan with Wilmington finance. I have looked them up on the BBB and I’m not sure about them. I am approved for my loan and now all I have to do is have an apprasial done and I’ll have my money. The thing is they have a 2 complaints throught the BBB which have not been addressed. The rest of there complaints have been addressed and fixed. How do I find out more about his company? Or has anyone ever dealt with them?

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009we have been trying to get an unsecured loan in wv, not a payday loan but just a loan of 00.00. The credit score is not very good but we are working on it and it is gonna take some time to get the credit score up, meantime we are trying to get a small loan to help the credit and we need to do some repairs on our home. We own the house but our credit is too bad to get a home equity loan right now. I have tried and tried and there seems to be no where to get a loan, any ideas? My husband has a good job but it seems impossible
